Short answer: the Koh Samui zipline has no single fixed weight limit — each course operator sets its own, and in practice the maximum is typically 110–120 kg with a minimum age of around 6 to 8 years. The exact limits for your date are confirmed when you book. Anyone who quotes you one universal number for "the" Koh Samui zipline is guessing.
That vagueness is annoying when you are trying to book for a family, so this page collects the real rules for every adventure activity we run on Koh Samui — zipline, ATV, dirt bike and 4x4 safari — including who can drive, who rides free, and which activity to pick if someone in your group is over the limit or nervous about heights.

The Koh Samui Zipline Adventure is a course of ziplines, canopy bridges, spiral staircases and one controlled abseil, linked by platforms in tall jungle trees in the island's interior. Guides do all the clipping and safety checks, and the harness, helmet and equipment are fitted for you at the base. Round-trip hotel transfer from the main areas of Koh Samui, drinking water and fruit, English-speaking guides and basic accident insurance are all included in the price.
Why the weight limit is a range and not a number. Zipline courses are certified against the rated load of their cables, brakes and harnesses, and different courses use different equipment. That is why a responsible operator will not publish a single universal figure — and why you should be suspicious of one that does. Tell us the weight when you book and we confirm it with the course before you pay, rather than letting anyone find out at the gear station.
Weather: what actually cancels a zipline
Light rain usually does not stop the activity — the canopy is wet jungle either way. Heavy rain, strong wind or thunderstorms can delay or reschedule a session for safety, because lightning and steel cables are a bad combination. Being a land activity, the zipline runs on plenty of days when the boats do not, which makes it a useful backup when the sea is rough.
ATV tours: who can drive, who rides free
The ATV rules are much more concrete than the zipline's, because they come from our own tour operators:
- ATV Taster, 1 hour — ฿1,500 per ATV, passenger seat ฿700. Departures 9:30 AM and 2:00 PM, hotel pickup and drop-off included, normally back at your hotel within two hours. Children under 12 ride as passengers free of charge; from 12 they are charged at the driver or passenger rate. No experience needed.
- ATV Adventure, 2 hours — ฿2,200 per ATV, passenger ฿1,000. Drivers must be at least 12 years old. Passengers can be any age; children under 12 must ride as passengers with an adult driver. No prior ATV experience required. You should be in good health and free of serious back or neck conditions.
- Advanced ATV, 3 hours — ฿3,500 per ATV, passenger ฿1,800. Recommended for experienced ATV riders only and explicitly not suitable for first-time drivers. Steeper hills, mud and rougher terrain; it needs real stamina. A passenger seat exists, but think about how rough the ride is before putting someone in it.
The pattern is simple: every ATV carries one driver and one passenger, the passenger pays a separate rate, and closed-toe shoes are required on all three tours. Flip-flops will get you turned away at the base.
Enduro dirt bike: the one with a hard prerequisite
The Enduro Dirt Bike Tour is the only adventure activity we sell with a genuine gate on it. It is strictly for medium to expert off-road riders and is not a place to learn. You choose the riding time — 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6 hours — and ฿4,000 is the 2-hour program, with the longer programs priced higher. Pickup is 11:00 AM–1:00 PM, and hotel pickup and drop-off from all major areas is included, along with a full set of motocross protective gear.
One thing to read twice: the enduro operator does not provide accident or medical insurance. Participants must have their own travel insurance that covers high-risk motorised sports. Every other activity on this page includes basic accident insurance; this one does not, and standard travel policies frequently exclude off-road motorcycling. Check your policy wording before you book, not after.
If someone in your group cannot do the zipline
Over the weight limit, pregnant, nervous about heights, or travelling with a grandparent who is not climbing anything? These get you into the same jungle interior with no physical requirement:
- Koh Samui Safari 4x4, full day — from ฿1,450 per adult and ฿1,100 per child on the join-in truck, about 8 hours with pickup between 08:30 and 09:30. Temples, Grandfather and Grandmother Rocks, Na Muang waterfall, a mountain viewpoint and Thai lunch. All ages, no driving skills needed. A private truck for your group only is also available.
- Home of Elephants half-day sanctuary visit — ฿2,850 per adult, ฿1,450 per child, 3 hours on site (09:00–12:00 or 14:00–17:00) with transfer and a vegetarian meal included. No riding, no shows.
- Thai cooking class — ฿2,200 per adult, ฿1,900 per child, 4 hours, morning or afternoon, in a sea-view kitchen with hotel transfer included. The pick when the weather closes everything outdoors.
What to bring to any Koh Samui adventure tour
- Closed-toe shoes or secure sports sandals. Required for ATV, dirt bike and zipline. This is the single most common reason people get turned away.
- Clothes you do not mind ruining, plus a change of clothes for the ATV and enduro tours. You will get dusty in dry weather and muddy in wet.
- Long trousers or long shorts for anything on a trail — jungle scratches are real.
- Sunscreen, insect repellent and a strap or pocket for your phone. Tie back long hair and take off dangling jewellery before a zipline.
- Your travel insurance details if you are booking the enduro.
Frequently asked questions
What is the weight limit for the Koh Samui zipline?
There is no single fixed number. Each zipline course sets its own limits based on the rated load of its cables, brakes and harnesses, and in practice the maximum is typically 110–120 kg. The exact limit for your booking date is confirmed with the course before you pay, so tell us the weight when you enquire rather than finding out at the gear station.
What is the minimum age for the Koh Samui zipline?
Around 6 to 8 years, depending on the course, and children also have to meet the minimum size and weight requirements for the harness. Very young children and anyone with a strong fear of heights are unlikely to enjoy it. The exact minimum age is confirmed at booking.
How much does the Koh Samui zipline cost in 2026?
฿1,900 per adult and ฿1,900 per child — there is no child discount on this activity. The price covers 3–4 hours including round-trip hotel transfer from the main areas of Koh Samui, the full guided course, harness, helmet and equipment fitting, drinking water and fruit, English-speaking guides and basic accident insurance.
How old do you have to be to drive an ATV in Koh Samui?
Drivers must be at least 12 years old on our ATV tours. Passengers can be any age, and children under 12 must ride as passengers with an adult driver. On the 1-hour taster, children under 12 ride as passengers free of charge, while from 12 they are charged at the driver or passenger rate. The 3-hour advanced route is recommended for experienced riders only and is not suitable for first-time drivers.
Is insurance included on Koh Samui adventure tours?
Basic accident insurance is included on the ATV tours, the zipline and the 4x4 safari. The enduro dirt bike tour is the exception: that operator does not provide accident or medical insurance, and riders must have their own travel insurance covering high-risk motorised sports. Many standard travel policies exclude off-road motorcycling, so check your wording before booking that one.
What can I do on Koh Samui if I am over the zipline weight limit?
The full-day 4x4 safari covers the same jungle interior — waterfalls, temples and mountain viewpoints — from the back of a truck, from ฿1,450 per adult and ฿1,100 per child, with no weight or fitness requirement. A half-day elephant sanctuary visit at ฿2,850 per adult and ฿1,450 per child, or a 4-hour Thai cooking class at ฿2,200 per adult and ฿1,900 per child, are the other two options with no physical gate on them.
