Full Moon Party Dates 2026 & 2027: The Koh Phangan Schedule

The remaining Full Moon Party dates for 2026 are 28 August (Friday), 26 September (Saturday), 27 October (Tuesday), 24 November (Tuesday), 24 December (Thursday) and 31 December (Thursday, the New Year countdown party). The party is held at Haad Rin Beach on Koh Phangan, about 15 km north of Koh Samui, and runs roughly once a month on the night of the full moon.

One date on that list is not a full moon, and that trips people up every year. Here is the full schedule, why October moves, and what a 2027 date list is actually worth right now.

Why 27 October is not the full moon

Thailand bans alcohol sales nationwide on several major Buddhist holidays — Makha Bucha, Visakha Bucha, Asalha Bucha, the start of Buddhist Lent (Khao Phansa) and its end (Ok Phansa). When the full moon lands on one of those days, the party is pushed to the following night.

That is exactly what happens in October 2026. The astronomical full moon falls on 26 October, which is Ok Phansa, so the party moves to Tuesday 27 October. Every other 2026 date sits on the actual full moon. If you are booking a non-refundable flight around a party date, this is the detail worth double-checking, because a lot of older date lists still show 26 October.

Full Moon Party dates 2027 — not confirmed yet

We are not going to present a 2027 list as fact, because it is not one. The schedule is set by the Haad Rin Business Association on Koh Phangan and is normally published closer to the middle of the preceding year. Until it appears, any 2027 list you find online — including ours — is a projection from the lunar calendar.

With that stated plainly, here are the astronomical full moons for 2027 in Thai local time, which is what the schedule is built from:

22 January · 21 February · 22 March · 21 April · 20 May · 19 June · 18 July · 17 August · 16 September · 15 October · 14 November · 13 December. New Year's Eve, 31 December 2027, will be a party regardless of the moon.

Expect several of those to shift by a day. February, May, July and October are the months where Buddhist holidays most often collide with the full moon, so treat those four as the likeliest to move. Reconfirm before you book anything you cannot change.

Getting there from Koh Samui

Koh Phangan has no airport, so the party is reached by boat. From Koh Samui the crossing to Haad Rin Pier takes 20–30 minutes by speedboat, and the pier is a short walk from the beach.

The Full Moon Party transfer with hotel pickup is ฿1,350 per person and covers the whole round trip: an air-conditioned minivan collects you from your Koh Samui hotel, the speedboat crosses to Koh Phangan, and after the party a minivan is waiting at the Samui pier to take you home. You choose your outbound pickup time at booking, with departures running from 5 PM to 10 PM. Return boats leave hourly between 1 AM and 5 AM, so you decide when the night ends rather than the boat deciding for you.

The budget option is ฿1,280 per person. It is the same speedboat both ways and it still includes the hotel drop-off on the return leg — the only thing removed is the pickup, so you make your own way to the meeting point. It saves ฿70, which a taxi to the pier will usually eat, so take it only if you are already staying nearby.

For Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve there is a separate special event transfer covering 24 December and 31 December 2026 only, at ฿2,600 per adult round trip with hotel pickup or ฿2,080 per adult on the own-arrival option. Those two nights are the busiest of the year and are priced and staffed separately. Groups of 10 or more should look at the group transfer, which uses one pickup point for the whole party.

What the transfer price does not cover

The Full Moon Party entrance fee is 200 THB per person, paid in cash on arrival, and it is not part of any transfer price. Food, drinks and personal spending are yours. Bring cash.

Two practical notes from the product pages that catch people out: full payment is required at the time of booking — cash on arrival is not accepted — and the transfers are for guests staying on Koh Samui, not for cruise ship passengers. Guests staying in remote parts of the island may pay a pickup supplement.

Should you stay on Koh Phangan or commute from Samui?

If you are already on Koh Samui, commuting is the simpler answer. Haad Rin accommodation sells out weeks ahead of every party and many places impose a minimum stay of several nights over party week, so a bed near the beach is often both expensive and inflexible. A round-trip speedboat with a minivan waiting at the other end costs less than one inflated party-week hotel night.

Stay on Koh Phangan instead if you want more than one night on the island, or if the idea of a 3 AM boat ride is worse than the idea of a walk back to your room.

Either way, book the boat before the date rather than on the day. Party-night speedboats fill up, and the 26 September Saturday party and the two December dates will go first.
